Visionect picks up the Red Dot Award for Joan Meeting Room Assistant

We attended the Designers‘ Night 2016 to collect the Red Dot award for best product design awarded to Joan Meeting Room Assistant, our innovative digital door label and meeting room scheduling solution.

The Red Dot Awards competition is organized by Essen-based Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, one of the oldest and most prestigious design institutions worldwide. The international jury bestows the sought-after seal of quality only to those products that stand out based on innovation, functionality, quality, ergonomics and durability.

In spring, Joan beat out over 5,000 competing entries from 57 countries, receiving the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016 for its minimalist appearance and ease of use. On July 4 we joined 1,800 guests from across the globe in Essen, Germany to officially celebrate this triumph of electronic paper.

“Our goal was to develop intelligent technology in an easy-to-use product to fulfill modern workplace needs,” explains Matej Zalar, CEO of Visionect. “Joan’s development has been influenced by its earliest users such as Microsoft, Dell, DreamWorks and others. We relied on user needs and feedback to create a simple, intuitive interface.”

The result? An amazing product tailored exactly to the user’s needs, simplifying the office experience by connecting to existing calendars and Wi-Fi.

“With Joan, a user can display room reservations and book meeting rooms on the spot from a Mac, PC or any mobile device without changing user habits and their workflow,” explains Matej Zalar, Visionect CEO, pictured.

The Designers’ Night also marked the opening of the special “Design on Stage” exhibition. Joan Meeting Room Assistant and other winning products will now be on display for one month at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, before being included in the museum’s permanent exhibition.

On 4 July, the international design scene gets together in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany. On that evening, around 1,800 guests celebrate the winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016 at the Designers’ Night.

The Red Dot Design Yearbook, the selection of the best designs of the year. Companies, journalists, architects, planners, designers and people all over the world who are interested in design use the books for their day-to-day work and keep them as collectors’ items and an archive of excellent design.

Opening at the Red Dot Design Museum was the special exhibition “Design on Stage” featuring the current award-winning products, including Joan. The exhibition runs until 31 July 2016, before becoming part of the museum’s permanent exhibition.
