“Holy crap that’s cool!” Twitter goes crazy over Visionect and Mercury Innovation interactive bus stops in Sydney
Visionect, 24 May 2018
The video, which has been shared more than 6,600 times, shows eStops, e-ink bus timetables, working their magic in Sydney.
It all started with Twitter user @jakkaj uploading a short video showing Sydney’s digital bus stops powered by Visionect and designed by Mercury Innovation updating the bus schedule:

And Twitter exploded.
People couldn’t believe what they were seeing was not paper, raving about the design and technology. All of them wanted a similar solution deployed in their towns.
Don’t worry everyone, we’re on it!
(PS: Want the eStop in your hometown too? Tell your city!)
I condone this usage of eInk. Cc @visionect

They look fantastic. We’re keeping a close eye on the Sydney trial.

Great use of e-ink! Not everything has to be an led screen 😊

Very nice. Aus has always been ahead when it comes to street furniture design.

That’s certainly a great idea and we’re aware of these developments! We actually have been planning to test e-ink at some point. For the time being, though, we are putting our emphasis on developing the existing digital screens all over the region.

Exactly what I did at first. Thought it was printed. Then realised it was updating and even showed how full the incoming bus is.
